I sat in silence, lost in thoughts wondering why we don’t compliment each other. I’m lost in my thoughts because even when the response seems to be something easy and quick to understand, it remains hard for me to answer honestly and without a doubt.
I hide my face from my lover, from his presence I shy away, I don’t know what the answer should be because I came to realise that I thought I knew him.
Don’t be in a haste to go through this piece like you do the others, don’t dodge it like you dodge anything you don’t want to face or talk about.
Dear, who is he to you? Have you thought about it? Do you have a response? Don’t rush, take your time.
People know him by many name; some call Jehova, some call him Ebenezer, others call him Elshadi, Yahweh, God, King, Creator, Maker, Sustainer… the names are innumerable. You know what I’m talking about, these are names of God, and these names are birthed out of an experience with him. Who is he to you?
I remember asking someone that question, and he responded “He is my Creator”. He had a vague idea, he just knew him as his Maker, Oh! He’s not wrong but that spoke volume to me as we had that conversation. Who he is to you determines how you relate with him. Knowing who God is changes the way you think. It convicts you.
At a point in my life, he showed up as “My Savior” at any time, he showed up as “My Sustainer” and this has helped me in my relationship with him. If he is your father, you know you can come to him with whatever your burden is and find rest in his embrace.
Have you seen him as your husband? Or is he to you a consuming fire? The reason you’ve not come close is because of what you know about him. He is good and his mercy is forever. He is a friend that sticks closer than your brother. It may seem like too good to be true, Oh! You think he’s a myth and doesn’t exist because you’re asking yourself, Presh, if what you say is true, why didn’t he show up when this or that happened?
Dear Christian, Proverbs 3:5 if you trust in him you know that Isaiah 55:8-9, and finally Ecclesiastics 3:1.
(Read and meditate on these scriptures as you as you reflect on His Place in your life)
