The fear is in the mind.
I used to think of myself as a jovial, fun, loving, person, I trusted people easily, gave benefit of doubt more often, loved without reserve, I was an assistance to anyone in need of it, I didn’t hesitate to help others, I opened my heart to all and knew the Lord, But I nursed a fear.
I didn’t think much of it as I grew up but anytime I’m in a discussion and the topic was brought up, it sent shivers down my spine, and I didn’t know why. I kept on silently praying that I’d never have an experience of that cruelty. During one of the summer vacation, I traveled with a few friends to London to ease up stress, going through the locals was something I did and I enjoyed meeting new people.
I had no idea that some part of the slums were out of bounds for non citizens but I was just about to find out. Kim and I took a stroll during one of the many days we spent there and on that day it came crashing down when we bumped into a group of guys. Our color gave us away easily and they bridged our paths.
I sensed a fear rise in my heart, cold sweat dripped my neck. You’re not from around here he said, looking at us hungrily, while walking around us.. I… we… emm… I stuttered.. I froze unable to respond but Kim gave the response, Nah, we aren’t. We are tourists , do you have a problem with that? Nope he responded but you are in our nest. We’ll leave then she said, making a move to go.
Not so fast, All the stories I’ve heard and movies I’ve seen kept playing in my head… and within the twinkle of an eye, Kim vanished. I was smart, intelligent, but bold was far from it. My Fear became a reality! …(Fiction)

It didn’t come up overnight, it was nursed and fed knowing or unknowingly.
Fear is the bondage of the mind. You are afraid when you let a thought take a negative disposition in your spirit. To say fear kills faster than poison would be an understatement to It’s effects in the mind of a man. It deprives us access to the free gifts of God in Christ Jesus.
The reason most people don’t come boldly to God is because of fear. Many people have believed a wrong notion of God for too long. How you see God determines how you respond to him and relate to him.
Is he your creator alone or is he your friend? Perhaps you see you him as a consuming fire and the moment you sin against him, you dread his supposed harsh judgement on you. You run away from the only person who is able to help you.
Hey! God is not mad at you, he isn’t angry with you. Fear deprives you of a sound mind and thought in crucial times, it makes people go suicidial.
What are you afraid of? Do you know that what you are afraid of is much more afraid of you? The reason we let fear consume us is because we don’t know who we are. The moment you understand that what you’re afraid of is actually something we’ve magnified in our minds and lives, and we begin to make it smaller by magnifying the Lord, making Jesus bigger than whatever it is, we are able to dispel fear completely.
It is a Choice! You get to choose.
Hey, Fear is not of the Lord. God doesn’t want his beloved children to live in hiding, in a shadow of their true selves. No! He wants us to come to the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ.
Biblical clue: Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
You can overcome your fears if you face it with Gods’ truths that is alive in your spirit. What has God said about you in Christ according to scripture? ( I’d refer you to read Discovering your Identity: Who are you ? in the previous posts)
Precepts from God
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
I’ve tried reassuring my faith in God on many occasions by reading what he has to say concerning whatever I’m going through. And concerning every matter of man, it is written… It’s just a search away.
When I feel the spirit of fear lurking around in my spirit… I begin to make Jesus bigger than my fears, my sickness, my pain etc whatever it is you’re currently afraid of. You’ve got a loving Father who is bigger than what you face.
Biblical clue: Hebrews 6: 18-19 God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast…
Food for thought
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Beloved if you’re yet to give your life to Christ; you are just in time. God’s invitation to you is still open ?
Receive him today: Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came to the world and you died for me. I accept you this this day to be my lawfully wedded husband, my Lord and personal savior, cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Congratulations, you are now a born again Christian.
