Have you ever wondered what goes on while we sleep? How manage we sleep and enter into dream world and whether or not the dreams are pleasant or horrifying we still make it through the next morning? Have you thought about how your sustenance comes about or do you know it already? or you are not bothered about it at all?
I woke up with a song in my heart, an old hymn; often times I wake up with a song in my heart, or right before I wake up in the morning, there will be a worship session in my heart. At one instance, I was determined to sleep, but the song was interrupting my sleep and I thought it was my room mate who was playing the song, only for me to wake up and realize that it was an assembly that was singing in my heart, funny thing I didn’t have the song at all on my song list and I have only heard the song while I was growing up.
When I receive song wake up calls, I rush to Google to type out the lyrics that I heard and boom, the song pops up and I listen to it to get what God wants me to know concerning myself, it can be for purification, edification, building etc. Back to the hymn I woke up with; first I’d like to say it is love that sustains us. After a long night, we are awake, what God does is restore us to life and power and thought, and he does this every morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23 the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness
I’ve come to a realization that over 70% of the total beings on earth wake up and go about their normal business as if they were the ones who willed it. At the end of each day, we come back home with new mercies that we don’t account for. While we kneel and pray to thank God for the victories he gave to us during the day, let us tend to cast our mind on what went on from the moment you woke up down till the current moment you are on your knees, new mercies!
You begin to see how he helped you choose the matching outfit, how he helped you relate with that customer that has a temper, that promotion you received today, how he guided you as you crossed the busy roads, how you almost fell on your heels but you didn’t, oh! Think about your day friends, see his hands written all over your activities, do you think it was because you were smart that you were awarded the contract or given the job?
What happened? he showed up. You had your last dollar and said if I perish I perish but somehow, your friend decided to credit your account out of the blue. You made certain mistakes in your decisions today and now you are on your knees to thank God for his mercies, you have a fresh opportunity to ask for forgiveness in areas you had shortcomings. He leaves you at the end of each day with new thoughts of God and new hopes of heaven.
If we can quit complaining and worrying about how life is not going the way we planned, and set our gaze to God, If we can adopt the attitude of thanksgiving like king David concerning all we find for each day, forget about the things you were not able to do today. Oh! Dear, look at all your accomplishments for today, you pulled through, you didn’t have money to feed today, hey! Look, but you’re still alive, breathing and well, new mercies.
You know, I’ve come to realize that hunger can’t kill you unless you let it. The rent is due, fees are not paid, look at the bright side of things, if he did it before, he can do it again. If you say it wasn’t God who has been sustaining you, then why didn’t it come through when you wanted it to happen? Why didn’t you get that job when you had the best grades and a sharp brain?
Hold fast what you have; you have only one pair of shorts? Manage it well, whatever the current thing you call a challenge is, hear me; God will provide for sacrifice.
Biblical clue: Genesis 22:2, 7-8, 13 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Mori’ah, and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here am I, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.
The little instructions, the common task, are things that furnish all we ought to ask; for instance, if you want a job at a the hospital, and the only requirement needed from you is to resume work at 7 am, if you normally wake up by 8 am, you’d have to adjust your sleep routine so you can meet up with the hospital requirements. Now, you ask God to make you a millionaire and he tells you to let go of your anger, pride, controlling issues would you heed to that instruction? Or you tell him you want to expand your business and he tells you to give that land you were hoping to make a new site to the church, or to a person, would you?
Fun fact to know: God will never entrust you with a thing if you’ve not been tested and trusted. He cannot give you the wealth you desire if the last 500$ he gave to you, you wasted it on drinks, partying and women.
Luke 12:19-21 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, [and] be merry. But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Inhale! Exhale! Do you know what came about to make respiration happen? How come someone is still able to inhale and exhale yet in coma?

Food for thought:
Luke 12:22-24, 27-31, 34 He continued this subject with his disciples. “Don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more. Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance–but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. It’s obvious, isn’t it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
To enjoy the life Christ is offering you, you must first let him into your heart
Revelation 3:20 -Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. He’s willing to go through this journey with you, you don’t have to do it alone, there’s so little you can do by yourself.
Beloved, if you’re yet to give your life to Christ you are just in time. God’s invitation to you is still open Receive him today Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came to the world and you died for me. I accept you this this day to be my lawfully wedded husband, my Lord and personal savior, cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Congratulations, you are now a born again Christian.
