We live in a world confined by time. The Clock reminds us that we each get 24hours in a day. Some say we don’t have enough time while others are saying the time is being wasted doing nothing, while there are the rest who maximise their time and find each day fully fulfilled. It’s funny right?
I’ve heard thousands of quotes about time; Time is money. Time waits for no one. Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend. There are a group of people who I call the planners association of the world. They are very meticulous about what they do with their time, and it’s commendable really but sometimes things happen within time range that we made no plans for; death, accidents, fire outbreaks, disaster etc.
But what does scripture have to say about our time
Biblical clue: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is Time for everything. It’s clear; there’s time for every thing under the heaven, and luckily we are under the heavens. What you do with your time is what counts, as endless as it seems, time is very limited. We’re daily in pursuit of what will make us better people. School, skills, businesses, ambitions, money, fame etc. We chase after mundane things with time!
The richest king in the world Solomon made a statement I’d love to borrow from the scripture
Ecclesiastes 6:7, 12 All the labor of man is for his mouth [for self-preservation and enjoyment], and yet his desire is not satisfied. For who [limited to human wisdom] knows what is good for man in his life, all the days of his vain life which he spends as a shadow [going through the motions but accomplishing nothing]? For who can tell a man what will happen [to his work, his treasure, his plans] under the sun after he is gone?
It’ll come as a shock to many when they finally realize what Jesus says is true in
Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Let me emphasis a bit on verse 21; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
We make a lot of investments towards the things that matter most to us, be it family, relationship, work, education, etc. we find ourselves doing more to attain higher in that area we call important, and if for any reason something happens to where our ‘treasure’ is we are totally disorganized! Your heart lies with your treasure.
Our Lord and saviour, the author of our faith, our manual for right living, lived here on earth a fulfilled life. Let’s take a look at what Jesus did with his time.
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. And all through his life time he lived out what was written of him
Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
What King David did with his time.
Psalm 34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 56:3 what time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
What do you do with your time? At a point, all I did with my time was school, games, church. Going to church every Sunday doesn’t mean you’re spending your time with God. Hear me, it is possible to be in Gods house yet you don’t know God. Why do you go to Church? Have you asked yourself that question, if not take a moment to find out. I was wasting precious time, currently you might still be. Halt!

Have you told yourself, I still have time on my side, I’m young, I will enjoy life now, I’ll give my life to Christ later, I’m but a Child, I’ll give God time when I’m married, it’s my time to flex… Just a moment please!
Ecclesiastics 12:1 says Honor and enjoy your Creator while you’re still young, Before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes.
the time is now
What better time to serve and enjoy God but now while you’re full of strength? You’ll think there’s time till you get that married and responsibilities creeps in. If you don’t start NOW to serve God, you won’t successfully serve him as you ought to when ‘night comes’
Biblical clue: John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Hello dear, the time is now!
You think you’ve wasted your time? You’re just in time! You have life, so you have the opportunity to take the right decisions.
If you’re yet to give your life to Christ, you think you’ve messed up bad, I bring you good news! Jesus loves you and he’s passionate about you.
Come.
Say this prayer with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came to the world and you died for me. I accept you this this day to be my lawfully wedded husband, my Lord and personal savior, cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Congratulations, you are now a born again Christian.
Food for thought
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
