I was replying a tweet when I heard the question in my spirit. What’s your excuse? You want to do something for the kingdom but you’re thinking of what your friends will say, I don’t know how Brad will see this, Stacy’s gonna make fun of me! And a whole lot of gibberish. The lord puts a pressing in your spirit to talk to your friend about salvation and you wave it off as a mere thought.
When I became conscious of the fact that I was born again, i had the most difficult time with evangelism. On countless occasions I’ve asked myself what am I going to say to them? I mean, they knew me before Christ met me. They’d probably think i was making a joke, oh! and they did. I told myself that soul winning wasn’t for me since I have nothing convincing to say.
And then I went through a scripture
Luke 12:11-12: And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.Growing up i loved the lord and would go to lengths to do something for the Lord, that includes the Sunday evangelism organized by my local church. I’d follow keenly with the coordinators and when we get to the house we were to preach to, I’d have multiple panic attacks, because I’d be praying silently not to be called to minister the word.
My first bold attempt to win a soul, all I could tell her was ‘Jesus loves you’ and she was quick to reply ‘I know’. What else am i supposed to tell her? I’ve heard its the most difficult to preach the message of salvation to the rich. I mean what exactly are you going to tell someone who lacks nothing money can buy to convince him to accept the lord as his personal Savior? what would you say? it was at the point of my first evangelism that i realized that it wasn’t about what you have to say. i quickly told her that i would pray for her, and i left her. I felt terrible. how will i now save a soul if i didn’t know to say?
I listened to a message months after my first evangelism and the preacher said ” you do not give to anyone more than what you have experienced”. You may say, well he didn’t give his life to Christ too after i spoke to him about Jesus. I’m here to tell you that it will take more than your words to convince a man to completely give his life to Jesus.I’ll tell you what I’ve learnt in this Christian Journey; it is the sole work of the Holy spirit to convict, convince and convert a person to surrender to Jesus. let’s take a look at a scene in the scripture: Saul’s conversion
Biblical clue: Acts 9:3-5 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied.
Let us take look at verse 5. NB: Prior to this encounter, Saul was killing and persecuting the Christians. oh! he was even on another trip to continue his slaughter. the question that popped up in my spirit when i was having a quiet time on another scripture was ” who told Saul that I was Lord?”
Exactly! how did he know that ? Had it been he called him Jesus, it would have been understandable, after all the disciples were preaching the gospel of Jesus, but he called him Lord. The word LORD is referred to as a person who has a general authority above others. Saul wasn’t unschooled, he had the most degrees among every disciple mentioned in scripture, he wasn’t poor. So how exactly did he give his life to Christ? Exactly! the spirit of God convicted him. The moment you go out for evangelism, you say the word(sow the seed) and the Holy Spirit convicts the person(germinate the seed)
It may not happen at that instant; I mean no seed grows overnight. But the seed you’ve sown will definitely bear fruit. So, don’t quit. Don’t stop. Don’t give up.
Win a soul today
Hey, you’re just in time. It’s not too late to give your life to Christ
Biblical clue: Hebrews 4:7 Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts”.
For whenever a man enters the gift of salvation it becomes “Today” for him. God’s invitation for man remains “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts”. It is a live promise. And I’ll add; it’s valid till the death of a person. Why not accept him Today.
If you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal savior, say this prayer with me
Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came to the world and you died for me. I accept you this this day to be my lawfully wedded husband, my Lord and personal savior, cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name ,Amen.
Congratulations, you are now a born again Christian.
