At different points in our lives, we must have received what we call a ‘goodnews’ It may be the arrival of a new born child, a promotion at the office, a wedding engagement, acceptance into college and the rest of it. A GoodNews is something that calls for a celebration, a joyful occasion, and it’s funny right? Looking deeply into it, it demands adjustment and change in ones life.
Let’s take a look at this scenario: At the arrival of a baby, what happens at first? Exactly! Congratulations, I’m so happy for you! It’s good news (especially if you’ve waited to have one)”. The Joy of something/someone new. The adjustments come when all well wishers are gone and you are with your cute little one, your nights are gone!
Oh! I love to have a good 8 hours beauty sleep, it disappears! Why? She demands your attention 24/7. Is it still good news? Of course, but to sustain and maintain growth and good relationship, you’ll definitely have to adjust and it usually isn’t an easy thing to do trust me. But we do it anyway, because we love our child”. And as we nurse them, we expect to see them turn out well, but that’s not usually the case in most cases.
What is the Gospel? The gospel or Good News of Christ was clearly stated in the gospel of John 3:16 Oh! I know, it’s a popular scripture
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
Now, this is the Gospel. Love in play in our lives. I’d like you to repeat it in this manner “For God so loved (your name) that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. You know when we look at it as the ‘world’ we tend to exclude ourselves but the world as it is,is made up of you and me; that’s why I’d prefer you include (your name) so that the message will come specifically to you.
Salvation guys! God gave his only son for you to be saved. Have you ever thought about it in this manner? You are the world.
Biblical clue: Romans 5:8 But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. (MSG)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)
Notice this, he sent Jesus to die for you, while you were of no use whatsoever to him. His love was put in line for you. I’d imagine the meeting held by the host of heaven when God declared he was going to save ‘man’. Some protests even, God, are you sure about this? Man is a rebel! … Still, he sent Jesus. No wonder John said; He came in the form of what he’s was going to save. He became man. He took our form, and walked through earth like us.
He experienced all we are currently going through, rejection, shame, love, hunger, thirst, temptations, betrayal, it’s a long list. Why did he go through all the trouble ? Yes, For You. King David at a point asked a question I ask myself often in Psalm 8:4 “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?”
The King of the earth, in sought of man. The gift of Jesus, is something our generation has played down on, and people are so concerned with the affairs of life, that they forget the giver of life.
John 1:10, 12 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
A charge to us all, who have believed in Jesus
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
To us too, who are yet to receive him, now is the time, his invitation is still open.
Receive him today
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
My friend, if you have never asked Christ to come into your heart, now is the time. It’s the most important step you will ever take.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that you came to the world and you died for me. I accept you this this day to be my lawfully wedded husband, my Lord and personal savior, cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Congratulations!!! You’re now a born again Christian.
